Look at me, I’m 33!

Nope… Not yet….

It’s my birthday today… I turn 33 years old today.

I know I must be getting older because I am noticing my birthdays less and less. Growing up there are the milestone birthdays; 1 through 5 are more milestones for your parents I think, 10- double digits, 13- teenager (gulp), 16- driving, 18- legally an adult (legally), 21- drinking age (does anyone remember their 21st birthday? I sure as hell don’t) then 25 and 30 are kinda big ones I guess just because you should damn well better be well on your way to becoming an adult at this point. 33? Eh. I seriously had to think a minute to figure out how old I was turning this year. It’s not a bad thing, I just seem to care less and less…

I still use it as an excuse to get taken out to dinner and get presents though, I mean, I may be less than enthusiastic about my birthday but I’m not stupid.

The Zen Master got me a new phone. No, check that… I got myself a new phone and told The Zen Master to give me the $100 for it because that’s what he was giving me for my birthday. The Zen Master is not good with the whole gift thing and when faced with a dilemma of what to get someone, he will usually just opt out entirely. Because of that, I didn’t get anything from him last year. So I made a preemptive strike and replaced my phone since it was due for an upgrade anyway and last week decided that it was going to malfunction. Ironically, the thing that stopped working on my phone first was the actual phone.  I could still send text messages, use all my apps and go on the internet but I couldn’t make or receive voice calls. Then last night I stopped being able to receive text messages too (could still send them though… weird). Anyway, I got a kickass new phone with my upgrade discount which, if I am extremely fortunate, will arrive today.

Princess Punk is (supposed to) give me a clean house for my birthday. At least, that’s what I asked for. Knowing her, she will make something last minute and forego the cleaning all together. While I appreciate the homemade gifts, I really would love a clean house… That I didn’t have to make happen…

That’s how a good birthday celebration should make you feel

My parents took me out to dinner last night. It was them, The Zen Master, the girls and Crazy Girl. We had a BLAST. If you are ever in Vermont and head through Waterbury (which is right off the interstate on your way to the ski-town of Stowe), I HIGHLY suggest the Tanglewoods Restaurant. It’s one of my favorite places to go and last night they didn’t fail to disappoint. I had Clams Casino (awesome), New York Sirloin (perfectly seasoned and cooked) and Creme Brulee for dessert. I also had a Cosmo, a Pomegranate Martini and some kind of alcoholic coffee drink with Frangelico in it. Needless to say, I ended up a bit tipsy by the end of the night. The Zen Master had ordered the clam and corn chowder as his appetizer and I ate about a quarter of his as well, it was SO good. Oh, and my mom got this crabmeat ravioli that was… Indescribable. Let’s just say that my comment to The Zen Master after tasting it was, “you can go right to sleep when we get home tonight, I’m good.”

And of course, the company was great. We laughed and talked and enjoyed the food and drink and laughed and talked some more. We spent two and a half hours there. And my birthday present from The Peach? A happy, smiling, cooing baby all the way through. Amazing since right before we left she had thrown a Peach fit (ha, funny, like peach pit but with a baby… I’m a dork) that seriously had me considering staying home and sparing the other diners the headache.

I took the day off work this morning and slept until 7:30am, which is late for me, and then got a massage from my husband upon waking.

And so I’m sitting in bed, computer on my lap, The Zen Master playing video games at the foot of the bed and The Peach resting in her Boppy and blowing raspberries into her bottle to my left.

I’m thinking 33 might be a good year.

I am ten years younger than you, but after I had children I stopped being able to immediately recall my age. I’m…uh…what year is this? Carry the one…
    Peach fit! Hahaha, that’s funny.
Your birthday celebration sounds awesome 😀 I hope it’s a relaxing one!!!
